Chicago Fashion Revolution Week
This recent semester I directed Chicago Fashion Revolution Week, a week of events commemorating the lives lost in the collapse of a Bangladesh manufacturing unit that occurred on April 24, 2013. Over 1,000 garment workers were killed and over 2,500 were injured in the Rana Plaza collapse all due to corrupt management, unsafe working conditions, and fast fashion greed. During the week of events I collaborated with 23 local businesses that are paving the way in ethical and sustainable fashion in Chicago. I planned and directed two fashion shows, documentary screenings, panel discussions, and clothes mending workshops all throughout Chicago during that week. This was the first year Chicago had ever participated in Fashion Revolution Week and I was absolutely honored to direct events alongside Chicago Fair Trade's Executive Director.
